Children's Summer Reading Program

June 8th - July 30th, 2022

2022 Children’s Summer Reading Program Tecumseh District Library

Wednesday, June 8 – Saturday, July 30

Babies, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners
who enjoy listening to stories read to them

Incoming First Graders through Incoming Fourth Graders
who enjoy reading

As we found new ways to design our Summer Reading Program
twice during the 2020-2021 Pandemic,
we have decided to keep the new registration and paperback book giveaway
part of the program at the beginning of the summer
while we eagerly return to the face-to-face interaction
when awarding prizes later in the summer.

I appreciate your patience as we continue to make adjustments!
Mrs. Reasoner, Children's Librarian

How Do We Get Started?
Registration is required.
Beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8th,

click HERE for the online Registration Form.

Include your COMPLETE mailing address,
because I will need contact information for future SRP mailings.
Also, include what each child's grade will be this fall.
You will receive an online confirmation that your registration has been received.

What Happens Next?
Shortly thereafter, I will contact you to pick up your child's SRP STARTER KIT,
including an official SRP Reading Booklet, a welcoming letter, a magnetic bookmark
and a paperback book (geared toward their grade level) to keep.
This book could serve as their first entry!

As children listen to or read ten library books,
they list each title on this designated booklet.

Reading Goal
A child will read ten or twenty Tecumseh District Library books on their reading level
that they have never read before.

Young children who cannot yet read may listen to
ten or twenty Tecumseh District Library books as "Read-to-Me's".

Tweens going into 5th and 6th grades have their own SRP called TWEEN TEAM.
HERE for details.

I encourage you to use TDL Children's Books
as the source for the titles you list on the SRP Booklet.

How Do We Finish?
The program runs for 7 weeks
from Wednesday, June 8th through Saturday, July 30th.

Stop by the front Circulation Desk with your completed booklet
and tell the Staff that you are ready to receive your certificate and prizes!
You will then enter the Magnificent Cavern of Treasures!

Children who read or listened to ten library books will receive prizes including
a Certificate of Achievement, a plastic library bag, a Starfish Daily Chronicle Newspaper,
a wind-up submarine, and a shark glider!

Children who read or listened to 20 library books will receive
a sea life bubble popper, an aquatic hi-bounce ball, and a Mighty Mights Stuffed Turtle.
