Dear Patrons,

Tecumseh District Library is now open from Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!  (Please check the Home Page for complete details.)

I hope you found this resource list helpful and enjoyable during the time we were closed due to the pandemic!
I am going to continue to feature the links!  A few have been deleted since their free subscriptions expired at the end of August.
Please know that I have not personally vetted them, but I did find them on two of my professional Story Time and Library Programming listservs which I trust, as well as from Facebook pages of local teachers.

The links are valid as of September 5, 2020.

Enjoy and I look forward to seeing you and all my "Library Kids" during your next visit!

Mrs. Reasoner, Children's Librarian

LIBRARIES

Amazing Libraries to Explore Online
Librarians are caretakers of some of the world’s greatest treasures—from historical documents and out-of-print books to archival photographs and illustrations. And thanks to the wonders of digitization, many library collections are available for everyone to explore online.

MUSEUMS

National Museum of American History
The Smithsonian National Museum of American History is home to more than 1.8 million objects and more than three shelf-miles of archival collections. On behalf of the nation, we preserve and share this extraordinary national collection encompassing everything from the original Star-Spangled Banner to Abraham Lincoln’s top hat; from the first computer bug to the first artificial heart; from Dizzy Gillespie’s angled trumpet to Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. Our archival collections include a remarkable array of American history in documents, photographs, and other works, including major holdings on the histories of American business and music.

National Museum of Natural History
The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History virtual tours allow visitors to take self-guided, room-by-room tours of several exhibits and areas within the museum from their desktop or mobile device. Visitors can also access select collections and research areas at our satellite support and research stations as well as past exhibits no longer on display.

SPACE

Hubble Space Telescope
Parents and educators, did you know we have lithographs with great details about some of the Hubble Space Telescope’s most famous images available for download? Teach your children or students about galaxies, nebulas and planets, such as the Lagoon Nebula—an example of a turbulent stellar nursery full of birth and destruction. Children will also learn some space-related vocabulary. (Spanish-language lithographs are also available)

Michigan Science Center
With live stage shows, a 4D theater, a Planetarium, 250+ hands-on exhibits, lab activities, special exhibits and more, there’s more than you can see and do in a week. In fact, there’s something new to discover at MiSci every month!
