Children's Summer Reading Program
June 15th - August 14th, 2020

Babies, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners
who enjoy listening to stories read to them

First graders through sixth graders
who enjoy reading

Due to the COVID
-19 Pandemic and the uncertainty of when TDL will have open hours,
our Summer Reading Program (SRP) will have a very different look this summer.
I appreciate your patience as we make adjustments to our traditional guidelines.
Mrs. Reasoner, Children's Librarian

How Do We Get Started?
Registration is required,
and began Monday, June 15th.

Click HERE for the online Registration Form.

Include your COMPLETE mailing address, because I will need contact information for future SRP mailings.  Also, include what each child's grade will be this fall.
You will receive an online confirmation that your registration has been received.

What Happens Next?
Shortly thereafter, I will mail your child an official SRP Reading Booklet and a gift paperback book geared toward their grade level.
(This book could serve as their first entry!)

As children listen to or read ten books,
they list each title on this designated booklist.

Reading Goal
A child will read ten books on their reading level that they have never read before.

Unlike the past few years,
Tweens going into 5th and 6th grades are also included in this group,
reading books on their reading level.

Young children who cannot yet read may listen to ten books as "Read-to-Me's".

Sources for Books

Access to TDL's Children's and Tween book collections will be available in several ways.

Patrons may reserve items by phone
(517-423-2238),  or through our website or
or with our TDL app.
Remember to mention your library card number.

When the requested items are ready, a Staff member will contact the patron with a pick up time.  Patrons will pick up their items at the library's front door for a contact-free checkout!

The online card catalog can be checked for availability of specific titles.

Other sources and formats will be acceptable this summer, including Overdrive, Libby, hoopla,
"Little Free Libraries"
scattered throughout Tecumseh,
books borrowed from friends and relatives, etc.

How Do We Finish?

The program runs for 9 weeks
from June 15th through August 14th
so there is plenty of time to reach the reading goal.

Completed booklets can be mailed to the
Tecumseh District Library, c/o SRP,
215 North Ottawa St., Tecumseh, MI  49286
The booklets can also be placed in a labeled envelope and dropped in the outside book drop.
Finishers will receive a certificate
and two ice cream store gift cards!
