Find out about the abundant forests, prairies, hills, lakes and streams surrounded by uncultivated fruit, berries, nuts and wild game, which had enabled the county to lead the state in agricultural and industrial wealth by 1900, with local historian Brenda L. Burkett, author of Lenawee County. Learn about the 34 granges in the county. Explore the fencing industry in Adrian, the agricultural development of celery in Tecumseh and Michigan’s first cheese factory in Fairfield Township.
As a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in historic preservation, Burkett has always held a special interest in the history of pioneer settlements and community development. She is a zoning administrator with a focus on community revitalization.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
