As a member of the Friends of the Tecumseh District Library you will have the opportunity to share your enthusiasm for books and the services our library offers. Our combined ideas, talents, and time can help support and promote the continued growth of the library and its services throughout the community.

The Friends of the Tecumseh District Library is a nonprofit organization. Membership funds are used to support the needs of the library, as well as our own programs. These programs appeal to many segments of our community.
Many libraries throughout the United States have Friends groups actively supporting them. Through Friends' efforts to create awareness and appreciation of library services, libraries are stengthened and communities are better served.
Friends' activites can range from fund raising to landscaping to arranging speakers and programs. The past two years have been very exciting as you can tell by the accomplishments and events listed below:
LES GUSTAFSON-ZOOK

This year the Friends' group has:

New shelving for all of the picture books in the children’s department.  This was a much needed and very welcome addition to the library.  The old shelving had been cobbled together from material the library used since 1962!
We were able to give the library $5,000 to replace the aging computers used by the community to access the internet.  This donation enabled the library to update almost all 18 computers!
  • Membership held a Murder Mystery Night.  This event was enjoyed by Friends and community members.
  • Sponsored an author night with young adult author K.A. (Kelly) Barson.
  • Sponsored a post card presentation by Dr. Chuck Gerhke on the Architectural Churches of Detroit.
  • Continued to maintain the "Corner Bookshoppe" which offers used books for sale during library hours of operation.
  • Held a used book sale on the first Saturday of each month to raise funds for the library.
Members donate their time when needed for many of the programs the library offers.
